Women We Admire: Lara Casey

Lara Casey

The month of February marks a year since I began building Cheerful Chic, and so far it has been an amazing journey full of learning experiences, struggles, and victories big and small! As our first birthday approaches, I have been reflecting on my experiences thus far. I wouldn't be where I am today without the support and encouragement of friends and loved ones, but also the inspiration and knowledge from some amazingly strong and passionate women. I thought I'd share with you all some of the women that I admire and I hope that you find some inspiration in their stories like I did.

A longtime friend and fellow #GirlBoss recently introduced me to a inspirational speaker/author named Lara Casey. Lara's story is a familiar one, one that many can relate to: an average woman with big dreams. Despite suffering several devastating blows throughout her personal and professional life, she finally found "her calling" and worked to make her dreams a reality. After years of hard work and many humbling experiences, her work paid off. Through her book, blog, and "powersheets" she inspires women everyday by providing guidance and helping them set goals and take action to live a life they love. I highly recommend taking the time to read her inspiring story. There is so much value to be gained from reading her experiences and I have listed my personal takeaways below:

1. Chase your dreams and no matter how many times you get kicked down, don't ever give up.
2. Don't let your fears take over. Own them and destroy them.
3. Life isn't meant to be perfect. Embrace imperfection and don't stress over it.
4. You don't have to "do it all" or "have it all together" and that's okay. Don't beat yourself up, just do the best you can.
5. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, challenge you, and share your passion for making dreams happen.
6. It's never too late to start working towards your dreams.

I am so excited about what the future holds for us here at Cheerful Chic and look forward to having you along for the journey. Thank you so much to Heather for introducing me to Lara Casey!
